13TH PLANET MAGAZINE

CREATIVE DIRECTOR / MANAGING EDITOR

2008

While I was working as the creative director for Al Jourgensen’s (Ministry, RevCo, etc.) 13th Planet Records, he decided to create a magazine. We discussed his goals and objectives, and I decided on a high-end, quarterly “heavy culture” magazine that covered politics, business, sport, music, environment, fashion, and other topics. The magazine’s premise was to leverage Al’s relationships and status to garner key figures in each field to contribute, thus having a unique and authentic perspective on each topic.

VOLUME 1 — ISSUE 1

Creatively, I was given carte-blanche to take it where ever I wanted. I assembled a team made up of my own friends who were extremely accomplished in their respective fields. For example, I enlisted Grammy Award-winning writer Steven Chean as executive editor and Allan Amato as chief photographer/photo editor. With the help of Steven, Allan, and others, we produced enough of the first issue to shop around for distribution deals, both nationally and internationally.
